| As a young
girl in her native Hungary, Clara Haluska Fodor
remembers growing up with beautifully embroidered
textiles. Years later, when she moved to the United
States, Fodor continued many of the textile arts
she knew as a child. As a tribute to her United
States citizenship, she devoted much of her time
and talent to depicting each of the fifty states.
Utilizing appliqué, embroidery and quilting
techniques, her work is both traditional and original. |

| Fodor spent 1,500 to 2,000
hours embroidering each wall hanging. The satin
stitches are so dense and uniform that the entire
design appears to be pieced work, rather than embroidery. |
