“A lot of people had a hard time, but people are very strong in this area, and I’m just so happy that we got the two studios so I could make work again, not just for me, but for the students. They came back. That the environment is back and the spirit is back. But the students didn’t realize how tough – ‘cause they went to other places, they didn’t – and I didn’t know either. I mean, what did I know? You read about it, disaster, but basically we were in a disaster, we really were. My brother would call and say, ‘Just chip away at it one day at a time,’ and so that’s what we did. You know, I didn’t want to talk to anybody for a couple of months. I just had to get it back my way ‘cause nobody really knew what we taught before, what it was like down here, you know. But now I know and if there’s another disaster someplace, there will be a truck and trailer on the road coming out of my studio to help out because I had a work crew from my family came down and helped get my studios back.”
