About the Artist

Using a technique she calls “spontaneous engineering,” Kimberly Sotelo creates sculptural yet functional furniture out of frail willow branches. A successful furniture artist whose process often incorporates glass, Sotelo revitalizes this rustic tradition by adding her own pronounced contemporary slant. Her work appears regularly in such venues as the International Contemporary Furniture Show in New York, the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show, Madison’s Art Fair on the Square and other shows across Wisconsin and Illinois.

What Does Mastery Mean to Sotelo?
"You can't follow your vision unless you have perseverance. Sometimes there's pain, sometimes there's tears, but you have to follow it. Otherwise you're not being true to yourself."
