motion. This imperceptible movement in combination with light and color cause glass to be admired as a stunningly beautiful material. It is interesting to note that many craft-based processes involve direct hand manipulation. In contrast, glass workers influence or moderate their forms with tools but can never touch the glass directly with their hands. Glass is worked in a molten state and is sometimes finished with sandblasting, cutting, and grinding tools. Blown and cast glass processes generally require teamwork, with the artist leading a careful dance between the molten glass and his or her assistants.
