For Educators - Teach Metals -PowerPoint

The PowerPoint™ provides a way for you to lead a class discussion about the artistic and metal working processes used by Douglas Harling. After viewing and discussing the PowerPoint™, visit Nick Toth’s website.

Look through section entitled “The Process.” Compare and contrast the processes used by both artists. Discuss these factors:

  1. Describe the materials and tools each artist uses.
  2. Describe the processes each uses.
  3. Describe the size, form, and function of each artist’s finished piece.
  4. How does the metal each uses affect their process?
  5. How do the functions of the finished pieces relate to the processes?
